Maple Springs Veterinary Hospital ServicesMaple Springs Veterinary Hospital offers a wide variety of services to ensure the health and well-being of your pet. Appointments/Preventive CareA priority of Maple Springs Veterinary Hospital is to stress the importance of preventive care for your pets. Regular and thorough physical examinations, whether your pet is healthy or ill, are critical in preventing and properly treating many diseases. Vaccinations, regular heartworm testing and prevention and intestinal parasite testing are all vital in maintaining your pet's ongoing health. Regular visits to the veterinarian will reduce problems for your pet and will most often reduce treatment costs by detecting problems earlier when they are more effectively and easily treated. Maple Springs Veterinary Hospital
offers a flexible appointment schedule to our clients Monday through Saturday.
Appointments are never rushed, because we stress the importance of giving our
clients and patients as much time as they need. As we pledge in our Mission
Statement, we will always treat your pet as if they are our own. SurgeryOur surgical suite is fully equipped to meet the needs of our patients, whether routine spay and neutering procedures or more critical abdominal and orthopedic surgeries. We use the safest anesthetic medications available, and carefully monitor our patients with pulse oximetry and cardiac monitoring, which allows us to closely watch our patients heart rate and blood oxygen levels. For specialized orthopedic surgeries we are very fortunate to have available to us Dr. Marilyn Kostalich, a board-certified surgeon who is extensively trained and experienced. Dr. Kostalich performs many complex surgeries for our patients on site. One service which distinguishes
Maple Springs Veterinary Hospital from most other veterinary hospitals is our
routine use of laser surgery techniques. For more information please see our
webpage on laser surgery. In-Hospital Laboratory
For more involved laboratory needs
(i.e. histopathology, cytology, endocrinology, immunology,...) we extensively
utilize Antech Laboratories for our out of hospital needs. All of this is done
to give our clients and their pets the most thorough and efficient laboratory
services available. Radiology and Penn HIPPennsylvania

Many breeds of dogs and even cats require regular grooming. Done properly this is an important component to veterinary care, since matted or tangled fur can lead to serious skin problems. Our groomer Debbie is available on Wednesdays and other selected days by appointment. We have a weekly Discount Bath Day - call for details! While you can have your pet bathed at Maple Springs Veterinary Hospital any day Monday through Saturday, you benefit from reduced prices and a complimentary nail trim, ear cleaning and anal sac expression if needed. Call (301) 424-0373 today to
schedule a grooming or bath appointment. |
Dental health is critical to the well-being of your pets. Periodontal disease is one of the most common ailments that we diagnose in our patients. Unfortunately, it is often unnoticed by a pet's owner until the condition is severe. Tartar on your dog or cat's teeth will often lead to bad breath, gingivitis, infection and premature tooth loss.
At Maple Springs Veterinary
Hospital we stress the importance of dental cleaning procedures when needed.
Done under light anesthesia, this involves scaling and polishing the teeth,
application of fluoride, antibacterial flushing and sealant, as well as any
other procedures needed. We also demonstrate follow-up animal dental hygiene so
owners can help reduce future problems. This may involve brushing and rinsing
techniques with veterinary dental products, as well as the use of CET Dental
Treats for cats and dogs.

Maple Springs Veterinary Hospital is also proud to perform surgical procedures with our Acuvet CO2 Surgical Laser. Why use laser surgery for pets? First and foremost, the laser significantly decreases post-operative pain by sealing nerve endings as it cuts through tissue. Decreased pain also means that less anesthetic is needed. For some laser surgeries, only a local anesthetic is required. The laser also decreases bleeding and swelling by sealing blood vessels and lymphatic tissue. These benefits potentially decrease the length of a surgical procedure. Finally, the laser decreases the risk of post-operative infection by sterilizing as it cuts through tissue. |
Our laser can be used for most
surgeries performed at our hospital, including routine spays and neuters, and
growth removals, to more involved orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries. Our
goal is to stay on the cutting edge of technology so that we can always provide
our clients and their pets with the highest standards of service and care. Our
Acuvet CO2 Surgical Laser is one more means of doing this.
